YAY! HALLOWEEN IS COMING! *GIVEAWAY AT END OF POST!*

Halloween has GOT to be one of my favourite festivals in the year. In fact, I can't decide which I like more, Christmas or Halloween. So they BOTH take first place!

Halloween comes earlier in the year though, and I'm SOOOO looking forward to it!!!

How do I love Halloween so? Let me count the ways.

1. Halloween has its origins in the ancient Celtic festival known as Samhain (pronounced "sah-win"). The festival of Samhain is a celebration of the end of the harvest season in Gaelic culture. Samhain was a time used by the ancient pagans to take stock of supplies and prepare for winter. The ancient Gaels believed that on October 31, the boundaries between the worlds of the living and the dead overlapped and the deceased would come back to life and cause havoc such as sickness or damaged crops.(Kinda like 7th month, except that it's just over one night as opposed to a whole month!)

Masks and costumes were worn in an attempt to mimic the evil spirits or appease them. And yes, THIS is the fun part. Dressing up!

2. Trick-or-treating, is an activity for children on or around Halloween in which they proceed from house to house in costumes, asking for treats such as confectionery with the question, "Trick or treat?" The "trick" part of "trick or treat" is a threat to play a trick on the homeowner or his property if no treat is given. Trick-or-treating is one of the main traditions of Halloween. It has become socially expected that if one lives in a neighborhood with children one should purchase treats in preparation for trick-or-treaters.

This practice of dressing up in costumes and begging door to door for treats on holidays goes back to the Middle Ages, and includes Christmas wassailing. Trick-or-treating resembles the late medieval practice of "souling," when poor folk would go door to door on Hallowmas (November 1), receiving food in return for prayers for the dead on All Souls Day (November 2). It originated in Ireland and Britain, although similar practices for the souls of the dead were found as far south as Italy.

3.  The word Halloween is a shortening of All Hallows Evening also known as Hallowe'en or All Hallows' Eve. Halloween is a holiday celebrated on the night of October 31, which is my BIRTHDAY! And this is why I really love Halloween, because everybody celebrates with me!

My mommy used to joke about me being born on Halloween. "The MONSTER is here". Heheh.

Well, anyways. The MONSTERS are coming, and how do you intend to celebrate it? Because my friends and I really love our Halloween, we'd research on all the best places to go on this night. In fact, we always try to go to more than one place! And it's great that some places actually spread their Halloween out over a couple of days.

This year, we are intending to go by Sentosa 4D Magix, "Deadly Ever After" Haunted Trail Extravaganza!

A first time collaboration between Sentosa 4D Magix and Singapore Cable Care, "Deadly Ever After" will play out at Sentosa's Imbiah lookout. The haunted trail will tell a story of a an innocent young lady, Ah Ling, who was forced into a Chinese ghost marriage with a dead man. This 288m trail that starts off that the entrance of Sentosa 4D Magix, and ends off at the Singapore Cable Car Museum, will bear a frightening 1970s story of two troubled souls for guests to unfold.

My hands are shivering as I type this, and I much anticipate being frightened out of my mind. Scare Actors, you'd better practice hard because my friends are a tough bunch to scare. Although I can't say the same for myself..........

Oh Gosh, I simply love Halloween and going for Spooktacular has always been one of my desired activities on my "Wishlist". And not to mention that it falls on my Birthday month too!
It would certainly be one of the best gifts ever and a wish come true if I were to attend Spooktacular with my friend...
