Eat Good.

As some of you may or may not know, what we eat is almost directly linked to how we feel, hence the saying "You Are What You Eat". And there's also the term "feel-good food".

Ok, I know some of you are thinking “Sticky Chewy Chocolate Ice-Cream" and "Sour Cream & Onion Potato Chips" and "Big Fat Chunky Burger".

Unfortunately, these are foods that may make you feel good for a while, but soon after, the side effects of the chemicals they contain will drag you under. Basically, any foods that contain excitotoxins like aspartame (commonly found in artificial sweeteners like in diet sodas) and monosodium glutamate (more commonly known as MSG) aren't good, and the last I checked, a packet of chips sure contains more than enough MSG to turn you into a big grumpy pisspot!

So what IS good? Our minds and bodies cope better when we’re getting the right foods, filled with essential vitamins and minerals. So eat well, and live well!

Here's my list!
1. Blueberries
Blueberries are bursting with vitamin C, which is what your body uses as fuel when your heart is racing. Crammed with tons of antioxidants (those molecules that fight free radicals that damage your cells), which repair and protect your body from the effects of stress.
• Use dry blueberries when fresh are unavailable. • Pack as a snack or add to cereal.

2. Almonds
Almonds help lower your blood pressure and keep oxygen flowing throughout the body.
• Almonds are really seeds of the fruit from the almond tree, not nuts. • If you find whole almonds a bit too heaty to eat on its own, you can have it with a nice warm glass of freshly brewed green tea.

3. Spinach
Spinach is the magic cocktail of all greens. It provides a huge amount of magnesium. Magnesium is a mineral that helps lower your stress level by keeping you in a calm state.
• Spinach is also full of foliate, calcium and, of course, iron. Now you know why Popeye always has a can of Spinach nearby!

4. Tuna
Tuna is naturally loaded with Omega-3 fatty acids that help keep your adrenaline from spinning out of control.
• When fresh tuna is unavailable, opt for canned tuna! These can be easily found in supermarkets, and are usually in brine, oil or water. Choose water for a low-fat option.

5. Oranges
Peel your way to the magic of vitamin C locked inside a juicy orange. Stress can delete your storage of vitamin C, which is something your body doesn’t produce naturally. Vitamin C helps your immune system function under stress more efficiently.
• An 8oz orange has over 128 mg of vitamin C. • You can also opt for fresh orange juice that contains no artificial sweeteners and preservatives for a healthier choice!

6. Milk
Are your muscles tight and tension high? Milk’s calcium can be a soothing remedy for anxiety, and help you to restore tranquility. A small glass will also give you a dose of vitamin B2 when you’re feeling a little restless.
• Skim milk is also high is protein, but low in fat. • Two glasses of milk a day is the recommended amount. If you have trouble sleeping, you'll be glad to hear that a glass a milk can actually help you to sleep better!

7. Bananas
Grab a banana for instant balance when life has you spinning of control. This naturally prepackaged fruit is full of potassium, a mineral that can help reduce tension.
• Bananas can also be a great energy booster and tummy filler, just in case you're on the go and have no time to stop for lunch.

8. Sweet Potatoes
Not really a potato, these roots are good source of vitamin B6, which help support a wide range of activities in your nervous system and help give you a major dose of relaxation.
• Have them boiled with a small block of honey rock sugar and some slices of ginger for a nice healthy desert! • Sweet potatoes also contain loads of vitamin A and antioxidants such as beta-carotene.

9. Jasmine Green Tea
Nerves on edge? Try drinking some jasmine tea! In aromatherapy, jasmine essential oil is believed have a tranquilizing effect. Now, scientific research has confirmed that the smell of jasmine does indeed act as a mild sedative, reduces heart rates and helps to calm you down. It also contains powerful anti-oxidants and reduces fat and cholesterol absorption.
•If freshly brewed Jasmine Green Tea is unavailable, opt for the canned/bottled ones sold in stores that contain no preservatives, less sugar and of course, look out for the "Healthier Choice Symbol"!

10. Avocadoes
This creamy gem will satisfy even your most intense fat cravings. A great nutritional enhancer that helps the body absorb other vital nutrients, avocados are filled with potassium and vitamin E, which can help when your nerves are in overdrive.
• Pick avocadoes that are firm, but not hard. • You can eat them fresh, scooped out and mixed it into your salad, or blended into a juice. To give your juice some flavour, add a wee bit of gula melaka. Tastes wonderful, I promise!

Remember, Stay Positive, and Smile, Smile, SMILE!

Girlie, I just sent you an offline msg on MSN. Do you know that snackin on rubbbish at night and before sleeptime could also be a cause of the endless dreaming?

And no caffeine after 5pm. Try drinking a warm cup of milk before bed.

OR. You could get Zac to rattle on about flowers.
